Director Becky Nichols
I love working at the library! The best part of my job is opening the library every day to new challenges and new opportunities to serve the people of Selma and Dallas County. A real special treat is meeting visitors and tourists and showing off our great town!
I check-in/check-out books, deliver books, update booklists and brochures and speak to everyone who walks into the library.
My favorite thing to do in the world is draw.
The best part of my job is troubleshooting computer problems successfully, as well as helping people find what they are looking for.
I greet you when you arrive, help you find what you need, suggest great books and generally try to make your visit wonderful!
My favorite thing to do in the world is watching my children play and laugh with their cousins.
I enjoy talking to the patrons about the books they need and love offering book suggestions, especially to reluctant new readers.
I plan children’s programs and also help with projects in the YA room after school. I also love to plan Courtyard Café and the Book Bunch.
My favorite thing to do in the world is to be with my family and my friends as well as the time I spend at the public library.
The best part of my job is working in a great environment and meeting people in all walks of life.
I am a mother of four and work at the Wallace Community College Selma library throughout the week. I work at the Selma Dallas County Public Library on Friday and Saturday. I enjoy working at the library because I like helping other and it also gives me an opportunity to learn more. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family. My favorite food is fried chicken and macaroni and cheese!
I provide services as needed to patrons in the Reference Dept.
My favorite thing to do in the world is read both nonfiction and fiction.
The best part of my job is the challenge/ability to find out what a patron really wanted/needs when I do a reference interview; e.q. “Do you have any books on psychology?” During the Q&A, I learn patron wants something on domestic abuse. At this point I am better able to serve patrons needs.
I assist people in using the computers for work and school, help people find books and articles they need, answer a wide variety of questions, and sending fax and scans.
My favorite thing to do in the world is enjoying coffee and yard conversation with a friend or book.
The best part of my job is making a difference in the lives of others.
