The best part of my job is opening the library every day to new challenges and new opportunities to serve the people of Selma and Dallas County. The best part about my job is meeting new people in the community. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my loved ones and perform on stage. Tiffany Howard I work in the children's department. I love helping children and seeing the smiles on their face when they find a good book. My favorite thing to do is reading. Beth Miehkle I work the front desk – adult fiction and in the business office I love spending time with my sons and their friends. The best part of my job is making a huge task – for someone who comes in to use the copier, fax machine, etc.,- simple and easy for them! They leave with a smile and so do I. Crystal Drye I also work in the reference department and the computer lab. My favorite thing to do in the world is to share the good news about God’s Kingdom and give people hope. The best part of my job is helping others in whatever way I can. It’s all about giving. Denunta Dial I check-in/check-out books, deliver books, update booklists and brochures and speak to everyone who walks into the library. My favorite thing to do in the world is draw. The best part of my job is troubleshooting computer problems successfully, as well as helping people find what they are looking for. Eleanor Reynolds I catalog new materials into the system. My favorite thing to do in the world is travel. The best part of my job is providing the newest materials to patrons in a timely manner. Emily Ellis I assist customers with books and computers and help with programs for children. My favorite thing to do in the world is reading and playing the piano. The best part of my job is seeing someone really enjoy something you recommended to them. Gabe Norton I greet you when you arrive, help you find what you need, suggest great books and generally try to make your visit wonderful! My favorite thing to do in the world is watching my children play and laugh with their cousins. I enjoy talking to the patrons about the books they need and love offering book suggestions, especially to reluctant new readers. Jan Parker I plan children’s programs and also help with projects in the YA room after school. I also love to plan Courtyard Café and the Book Bunch. My favorite thing to do in the world is to be with my family and my friends as well as the time I spend at the public library. The best part of my job is working in a great environment and meeting people in all walks of life. Joanie Looney I love welcoming patrons and especially visitors to the library and to Selma. Selma is my hometown and I like being a part of an organization that serves so many people in so many ways! It makes me proud to live here! Kamaya Moore I attend Wallace College Selma through the week working on my business degree. I love working at the Selma Dallas County Public Library because I enjoy helping other and learning new things. I also love to meet new people and help them. Marsha Carmichael I assist patrons in the Adult Computer Lab. I love quality time with my family. The best part of my job is observing happy satisfied patrons! Mary Morrow I provide services as needed to patrons in the Reference Dept. My favorite thing to do in the world is read both nonfiction and fiction. The best part of my job is the challenge/ability to find out what a patron really wanted/needs when I do a reference interview; e.q. “Do you have any books on psychology?” During the Q&A, I learn patron wants something on domestic abuse. At this point I am better able to serve patrons needs. Pat Montz I catalog and prepare books and resourcesfor circulation. My favorite thing to do in the world is crochet. The best part of my job is to know that when the items go out to the public they are neat, clean and attractive to the eye. Stephen Posey I assist people in using the computers for work and school, help people find books and articles they need, answer a wide variety of questions, and sending fax and scans. My favorite thing to do in the world is enjoying coffee and yard conversation with a friend or book. The best part of my job is making a difference in the lives of others.
