I love working at the library! The best part of my job is opening the library every day to new challenges and new opportunities to serve the people of Selma and Dallas County. A real special treat is meeting visitors and tourists and showing off our great town!

Amber Shivers

Amber Shivers :

I help kids and other patrons who come  to the Children's Department. My favorite thing about my job is helping and being a good friend to anyone I come across when they visit us.

Taeyana Prevo

Taeyana Prevo :

I'm the new Reference Librarian Assistant here at the Selma-Dallas County Library. The best part I love about this job is greeting patrons, as well as serving the community and assisting the public. When I'm not here, my favorite thing to do is to travel out of town with family and friends.

“I love talking to readers about books they have read or are reading.

I also like recommending books that I have read.

Plus, I enjoy the community at the library and contact with Selma folks and friends.”

Caziah Simmons

Caziah Simmons :

I assist junior and adult patrons that come through the Children's Department of the Library.  My favorite thing to do is play with kids and make sure they have a good time while at the library. The best part of my job is knowing that I have helped others in ways that I may or may not know of.

Dana Stewart

Dana Stewart :

I catalog new books and resources and schedule our meeting rooms.

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and work in my yard while listening to books!

The best part of my job is the wonderful people here, both the patrons and the staff.

Barbara Griffin

Barbara Griffin :

My job is to greet everyone that comes into the Library, work at the main desk, check books in and out, shelve books, help people use the copier, and answer questions about different services of the Library. The best part of my job is getting to see all the different people and helping them find books. My favorite thing to do is read and spend time with family and friends.

Gail Llewellyn

Gail Llewellyn :

I am currently stationed at the front desk, so I am the first person patrons encounter upon entering the Library. My favorite part of the job is the people!  The staff are kind, caring and helpful.  The patrons come from everywhere in the community and I enjoy being a part of it all!

Beth Miehkle

Beth Miehkle :

I work at the front desk – adult fiction and in the business office

I love spending time with my sons and their friends.

The best part of my job is making a huge task – for someone who comes in to use the copier, fax machine, etc.,- simple and easy for them! They leave with a smile and so do I.

Crystal Drye

Crystal Drye :

I also work in the reference department and the computer lab.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to share the good news about God’s Kingdom and give people hope.

The best part of my job is helping others in whatever way I can. It’s all about giving.

Deontae Dial

Deontae Dial :

I check-in/check-out books, deliver books, update booklists and brochures and speak to everyone who walks into the library.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to draw.

The best part of my job is troubleshooting computer problems successfully, as well as helping people find what they are looking for.

Gabe Norton

Gabe Norton :

I greet you when you arrive, help you find what you need, suggest great books, and generally try to make your visit wonderful!

My favorite thing to do in the world is watching my children play and laugh with their cousins.

I enjoy talking to the patrons about the books they need and love offering book suggestions, especially to reluctant new readers.

Jan Parker

Jan Parker :

I plan children’s programs and also help with projects in the YA room after school. I also love to plan Courtyard Café and Book Bunch.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to be with my family and my friends as well as the time I spend at the public library.

The best part of my job is working in a great environment and meeting people from all walks of life.

Marsha Carmichael

Marsha Carmichael :

I assist patrons in the Adult Computer Lab.

I love quality time with my family.

The best part of my job is observing happy, satisfied patrons!

Stephen Posey

Stephen Posey :

I handle local history requests, assist people using computers for work and school, help people find the books and articles they need, and assist in sending faxes and scans.

My favorite thing to do in the world is enjoying coffee and good conversation with a friend or book.

The best part of my job is making a difference in the lives of others.
