I love working at the library! The best part of my job is opening the library every day to new challenges and new opportunities to serve the people of Selma and Dallas County. A real special treat is meeting visitors and tourists and showing off our great town!

My job at the library is to help and serve patrons. To also greet them with a warm welcome.

The best part of my job is knowing that I've helped a patron in the best way possible and seeing them leave with the information they needed.

My favorite thing to do is greet the patrons and help kids find their interest in books.

I am a student assistant in the children's department.

The best part of my job is playing with the kids and finding books for someone else.

Some of my favorite things to do are shelving books or movies, playing with the kids and helping people find what they need.

Dana Stewart

I catalog new books and resources and schedule our meeting rooms.

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and work in my yard while listening to books!

The best part of my job is the wonderful people here, both the patrons and the staff.

Barbara Griffin

Barbara Griffin :

My job is to greet everyone that comes in the Library, work at the main desk, check books in and out, shelve books, help people use the copier and answer questions about different services of the Library. The best part of my job is getting to see all the different people and helping them find books. My favorite thing to do is read and spend time with family and friends.

My job at the library is working in the reference department.

The best part of my job is helping the patrons with their needs.

My favorite things to do are, having a good time, spending time with God, being with family and planning goals for my life.

I work at the front desk – adult fiction and in the business office

I love spending time with my sons and their friends.

The best part of my job is making a huge task – for someone who comes in to use the copier, fax machine, etc.,- simple and easy for them! They leave with a smile and so do I.

I also work in the reference department and the computer lab.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to share the good news about God’s Kingdom and give people hope.

The best part of my job is helping others in whatever way I can. It’s all about giving.

Denunta Dial

Denunta Dial :

I check-in/check-out books, deliver books, update booklists and brochures and speak to everyone who walks into the library.

My favorite thing to do in the world is draw.

The best part of my job is troubleshooting computer problems successfully, as well as helping people find what they are looking for.

Eleanor Reynolds

I catalog new materials into the system.

My favorite thing to do in the world is travel.

The best part of my job is providing the newest materials to patrons in a timely manner.

Emily Ellis

Emily Ellis :

I assist customers with books and computers and help with programs for children.

My favorite things to do in the world is reading and playing the piano.

The best part of my job is seeing someone really enjoy something you recommended to them.

Gabe Norton

Gabe Norton :

I greet you when you arrive, help you find what you need, suggest great books and generally try to make your visit wonderful!

My favorite thing to do in the world is watching my children play and laugh with their cousins.

I enjoy talking to the patrons about the books they need and love offering book suggestions, especially to reluctant new readers.

Jan Parker

Jan Parker :

I plan children’s programs and also help with projects in the YA room after school. I also love to plan Courtyard Café and Book Bunch.

My favorite thing to do in the world is to be with my family and my friends as well as the time I spend at the public library.

The best part of my job is working in a great environment and meeting people in all walks of life.

I attend Wallace College Selma through the week working on my business degree. I love working at the Selma Dallas County Public Library because I enjoy helping other and learning new things. I also love to meet new people and help them.

I assist patrons in the Adult Computer Lab.

I love quality time with my family.

Mary Morrow

Mary Morrow :

I provide services as needed to patrons in the Reference Dept.

My favorite thing to do in the world is read both nonfiction and fiction.

The best part of my job is the challenge/ability to find out what a patron really wanted/needs when I do a reference interview; e.q. “Do you have any books on psychology?”  During the Q&A, I learn patron wants something on domestic abuse. At this point, I am better able to serve patrons needs.

Stephen Posey

Stephen Posey :

I assist people in using the computers for work and school, help people find books and articles they need, answer a wide variety of questions, and sending fax and scans.

My favorite thing to do in the world is enjoying coffee and yard conversation with a friend or book.

The best part of my job is making a difference in the lives of others.
